Acting Principal for Onoway Jr/Sr High selected
Posted on:Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. John Lobo, Assistant Principal at Onoway Jr/Sr High School (OHS), has accepted the position of Acting Principal for OHS for the 2015-2016 school year. Mr. Lobo has been an educator with NGPS since 1992, teaching Science, Physical Education and Career and Technology Studies (CTS) at Sangudo Community School from 1996 to 2008.
That year he joined the Division Office team as a Learning Services Coordinator specializing in Information and Communication Technology.
His time and responsibilities in the coordinator role illustrated for him “the importance of collaborative program planning, innovative classrooms and supportive communication with principals and teachers, which ultimately establishes the environment for student learning.”
In 2012, Mr. Lobo accepted a position as Assistant Principal at OHS.
“Mr. Lobo brings a breadth of experience to the position,” commented Superintendent of Schools Kevin Andrea, “including 23 years as an educator with NGPS in Lac Ste Anne County schools and a thorough understanding of education at school, divisional and provincial levels. We look forward to John’s contributions over the coming year.”
Mr. Lobo holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Bachelor of Education degree, both from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Master of Education in Leadership, Education and Technology from the University of Lethbridge.
Looking forward to the year ahead, Lobo shared, “I am thankful for the opportunity to lead the fantastic staff and students of Onoway High School as we head towards an exciting 2015-16 school year!”
