Board Advocacy

Elected by and accountable to the communities they serve, trustees, and the Board as a whole, are important advocates for Alberta's children and education.

BOARD ADVOCACY at a glance!

With the belief that rural Alberta students deserve the same access to programming and supports as their urban counterparts, the NGPS Board advocates for predictable, equitable funding solutions that foster progressive educational opportunities for all students. Areas of focus include:

  • equitable funding for rural schools
  • Capital Funding and Transportation
  • Meeting the needs of all learners

Ensuring Alberta's rural communities are served by a well-equipped and equitable education system is an investment in Alberta's future prosperity.

School Boards:

  • assess educational policies to support what is best for the development of the whole child
  • promote the positive image of schools to ensure that education is given a high priority and communities are aware of Division accomplishments
  • work with and be the voice of parents and public community members
  • set strategic priorities in light of community expectations, available resources, needs of students and educational practice
