Acting Assistant Principal for OHS announced
Posted on:Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to welcome Ms. Amy Villneff to the Division in her new position as Acting Assistant Principal at Onoway Jr/Sr High School (OHS).
NGPS Superintendent of Schools, Kevin Andrea, made the following statement on the announcement.
“We are excited to have Ms. Villneff join NGPS in a leadership role with Onoway High. Amy’s experience in the classroom and with Alberta Education, and her commitment to innovative classrooms and connecting with students, staff and the community, are real assets to Onoway High and to the Division.”
Ms. Villneff has been a teacher for 15 years, instructing students from their early years through to Grade 9 in various subjects, including French as a second language. An active school leader, Amy has mentored student teachers, participated in Parkland School Division’s Exploring Leadership and led a variety of school-based initiatives and Professional Learning Communities.
A secondment with Alberta Education last year gave Amy the chance to work at the provincial level in the areas of Student Learning Assessments, curriculum prototyping, teacher training and Provincial Achievement Tests with a focus on Grade 9 humanities achievement testing and future Student Learning Assessments.
Ms. Villneff holds a Bachelor of Education degree and a Master of Education in Leadership and School Improvement from the University of Alberta. She is also a former Alberta Excellence in Teaching Award nominee.
Ms. Villneff commented, “I am excited to have this opportunity to venture on the path of personal and professional learning alongside the staff and students at Onoway Jr./Sr. High School.”
Onoway High’s new Acting Principal, John Lobo bit.ly/ohsprincipal, is looking forward to working with Amy to “achieve our school goals and to support our staff and students in the upcoming school year. Amy brings ideas and experiences in curriculum instruction and assessment that will be a benefit to staff and students at OHS.”
