CCM Drummer of the Year mentors SCS students

Posted on:

Canadian Country Music Drummer of the Year, Chad Melchert, visited Sangudo Community School last Friday to mentor students. The session was Chad's 3rd residency at the school where he has worked with students in Grades 4 to 8.

SCS Teacher Mrs. Myrol shared, "It's a wonderful experience for students, to be able to work and play alongside a professional musician of Chad's calibre, and to hear about Chad's experience as a successful, working musician."

Students got to hear Chad play and got to play for Chad and hear his expert feedback and advice. Chad's visit ended with a surprise donation of a new, complete set of Yamaha drums to the music program at SCS, enabling more students more play and practice time.

The drummer enjoys coming into the schools and sharing his talent and message with students. "You don't have to come from a big city to make your dreams come true. You do have to practice."
