Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Eidick has been selected as the Division’s nominee to the Alberta School Boards’ Association’s (ASBA) Zone 2/3 Edwin Parr Selection Committee.  Mr. Eidick teaches junior high Social Studies, Language Arts and Sports at Hillside Jr/Sr High School in Valleyview.

“Mr. Eidick is a passionate first-year teacher and a positive role model who sincerely engages students in developing and enhancing their own well-being. We are so fortunate to have exemplary first-year teachers like Mr. Eidick working with NGPS students,” said Superintendent Kevin Andrea.

In support of his nomination, Mr. Eidick is described as a teacher who engages students in a sincere and easy manner, garnering the trust and respect of his students, who regularly seek out his attention for guidance, support and praise. Mr. Eidick is a reflective practitioner who endeavours to meet the needs of every student in his classroom through differentiated instruction intentionally planned to ensure engagement, growth and success.

Mr. Eidick has made many positive contributions to Hillside’s extracurricular offerings, including coaching the junior high volleyball team and maintaining a supporting role in various student activities.

Each year the ASBA honours six outstanding first-year teachers with the Edwin Parr Teacher Award.
