New Principal begins at Onoway Elementary this September!
Posted on:Northern Gateway Public Schools is pleased to welcome Ms. Jody Beck to the division! Ms. Beck joins the NGPS team this September as the new Principal of Onoway Elementary School, following Ms. Shabada’s retirement at the end of the 2016 school year.
Over the course of her 24-year career as an Educator, Ms. Beck has taught students in Red Deer Catholic Regional Division, Northern Lights School Division and Grande Yellowhead Public School Division.
Her experience includes eight years as the Supervisor of Learning Services with Grande Yellowhead and four years as a Special Education and Literacy Consultant, and Special Education Coordinator, for Sunchild and O’Chiese First Nations.
“We are excited to welcome Jody to Northern Gateway and to the principalship at Onoway Elementary School,” commented Kevin Andrea, Superintendent of Schools. “Jody is a proven leader and coach with a commitment to supporting the diverse social, emotional, behavioural and academic needs of students. Her talents and experience will be a great addition to the OES school community."
Ms. Beck holds a Bachelor of Education with a major in Special Education from the University of Alberta, a Master of Education Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Interdisciplinary Inclusive Educational Leadership from the University of Calgary, and a Master of Education Interdisciplinary Graduate Diploma in Understanding Children and Youth Mental Health, also from the University of Calgary.
