Hillside teacher wins Edwin Parr Award!
Posted on:We are pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Eidick, our 2016 Edwin Parr Nominee, was awarded the prestigious honour in Edmonton this past weekend! Mr. Eidick teaches junior high at Hillside Jr/Sr High School in Valleyview, and is one of only 6 teachers in the province recognized as an Edwin Parr recipient.
Hillside Principal, Ms. Darlene Wood, was at the ceremony:
“We are so pleased for Stephen and proud of his accomplishment. As a truly reflective teacher, Stephen endeavours to meet the needs of every student and to contribute positively to our school community. His leadership extends from his classes to extracurricular offerings and to his own professional learning.”
Mr. Eidick’s contributions include:
- An attention to student-centered learning and multifaceted instruction
- A strong aptitude for and practice in areas of differentiated instruction and assessment
- Demonstrating reflective and engaging teaching practices
- Coaching and support for extracurricular school programming
- Being a positive role model for students and contributor to the school community
Superintendent Kevin Andrea was also in attendance at the ceremony:
“The Edwin Parr Award is the most prestigious award a first year teacher can receive and a true indicator of Stephen’s contributions to students and to Hillside Jr/Sr High School in his first year of teaching. We couldn’t be happier for Stephen as he is recognized as an educator who consistently exceeds expectations in creating safe, engaging and supportive learning environments for NGPS students.”
