Red Dress Day
Posted on:May 5 marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+) on Turtle Island — also known as Red Dress Day. This day began as a response to and awareness of the alarmingly high numbers of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
On May 5th, you may see people wearing red in support of, and in memory of, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). You may also see red dresses hanging outside or in office areas. Everyone is welcome to show their support by wearing red on May 5.
