Annual Education Results Report released for 2022-23

Each year, the NGPS Board is required to provide Alberta Education with an Annual Education Results Review (AERR) that details how the Division is meeting the goals set for it by Alberta Education, how Division students are achieving in a number of areas, and how the Division is addressing areas they have identified as priority.

The Report provides an in-depth, data-based look at Division demographics, student growth and achievement, and the strategies NGPS leaders, educators and support staff will be using to support student growth and achievement.

Student Growth and Achievement is gauged using the following provincial measures:

  • The provincial Assurance Survey and First Nations, Métis and Inuit Assurance Survey
  • English as an Additional Language
  • Student Learning Engagement
  • Citizenship
  • High School Completion Rates and First Nations, Métis and Inuit High School Completion Rates
  • Grade 6 and 9 Provincial Achievement Tests (PATS)
  • Diploma Exam Results
  • Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning Environments
  • Access to the Appropriate Supports and Services at School
  • Teaching and Leading
  • Governance

Highlights:

  • Division student population is up slightly. 
  • Grade 9 Provincial Achievement Test Scores (PATS) were on par with the province.
  • First Nations Métis Inuit (FNMI) Grade 9 PATS were considerably higher than the provincial FNMI Grade 9 PATS.
  • Grade 6 PATS in English and Math were not written last year as the Division had implemented the new K-6 curriculum in these subjects.
  • High School Completion Rates have improved. 
  • High School Completion Rates for FNMI students is on par or above the provincial average.
